Life in Boulder

WOW what a great place to be in the summer. I arrived here and the weather was COLD down to like 50 degrees in late July. Actually almost went to buy a jacket or sweatshirt but it warmed up a day later. Now the weather is AWESOME with the highs around 80 and lows in the mid 60's. Great to walk around the Boulder Creek as it is usually cooler and fun to watch people tubing down the creek. Here are some pictures I have taken.

Member Appreciation Event

We went to Casino Arizona on Sat night and WOW was that a great event. We started in the Arizona Room listening to some light music. Then some of us went to the buffet while others went to the main restaurant for dinner. Then we all met up at the Pima Lounge for some dancing all night long. We had some great gifts we gave away and most everyone that showed up received a prize.

The Casino treated us great and it was just an overall great night out with friends. Met some new members and was happy to see some I have not seen in awhile.

Don't forget to sign up for our Third Anniversary party on Aug 29th as that party is going to ROCK.

Dos Gringos Happy Hour

WOW what a great happy hour. I would like to thank Lisa C. for inviting us to share in the Happy Hour she won. We had pitchers and pitchers of Margarita's and FREE Food that looked great. Naturally it was a huge surprise to everyone that showed up as we didn't advertise the freebies.

Just goes to show you that you never know what you may get when you come to one of our events.

WOW I didn't realize it has been so long since I have done a post.

Well lets see what has been going on in the life of Harry and The Phoenix Singles...

Last weekend I went to Boulder, CO and had a great time with my niece and nephew. Actually taught my niece how to drive a stick shift car (ok maybe not taught her but let her drive in a parking lot) and she did an awesome job. Then the highlight of the trip was tubing down the Boulder Creek which was awesome. The water was a little cold but it was sunny out so it felt pretty good. I will say if you ever go tubing make sure you ligt your butt up when going over rocks.

Then flew back and went to my going away party (kinda odd I had to fly back to Phoenix to go to a going away party but that is another story). We had alot of people come out and party at the Upper Deck for the Disco Party. Everyone was dancing all night long, heck I even danced alot. It was great seeing so many friends again and meeting so many new friends.

Another great pool party

WOW what a great pool party. Members of the Phoenix Singles know how to party. This party was awesome. I am learning everyday that sometimes it is best to just let go and have a great time. I had an awesome time at the pool party. The one thing I like most about the group is how fun all the members are to eachother. It is great to be able to get to know so many awesome people.

July 4th Pool Party

Well for those of you who didn't attend the July 4th Pool Party you missed a great party. We had SOOOOOOO much food I couln't believe my eyes. We could have fed an a small army and still had leftovers. Henry did a great job hosting this party and his home is great. The pool water was very refreshing (even though I was thrown in). I met some new members and was able to chat with some members I have not had the chance to talk with before.

That is the one thing I love about The Phoenix Singles, you get to meet the most interesting people.

We have another pool party this weekend and I am sure it will be a great event.

Carnival Cruise

Well the deadline has come and our group is booked on the Carnival Splendor for a 7 day cruise. As of today we have 13 Cabins booked and 26 people going. If you would like to join us you can still use the group booking number and get the extras they are giving us but will have to pay the going rate at the time you call. We have released all our unused cabins.

This is going to be an awesome trip and I personally am looking forward to being on the high seas with so many great people.

Carnival Cruise Update

Well I posted a message afew days ago that we sent an email to Carnival Cruise Line. It seems they are not very interested in our concerns or issues as I have not yet received anything back from them. Is it me or do others find it odd in today's economic climate that customer service seems to be going down hill. I find it shocking that a huge company like Carnival would ignore the issues of a paying customer. The amazing part to me is 1) thier stock is down over 28% for the year 2) people are going on less cruise so when they see a group going on one they don't care to try and make them happy, especially when it wouldn't cost them any MONEY and 3) they don't even take the time to respond, I took time to write the email they should take the time to respond.

Hmmmmmmm maybe that is why the stock price is down?

Or maybe they don't realize with the power of the internet that when you upset one person they are not only going to tell 10 people but blog about it and tell thousands.

But, if they do respond I would be very fair and let you all know what they say and/or do hmmmm hope they don't throw me overboard.

Phoenix Singles Give Back to the Community

We had a group of about 20 people go volunteer at Packages From Home on Saturday Morning. WOW what a great experience to be able to help out and pack packages that will be sent overseas. Nothing feels better than to help out and volunteer. This week with the passing of 3 huge stars in the news it just goes to show us life is way too short. By volunteering and giving back to the community we are making a huge difference in someone's life, not to mention a big difference in our own life.

Some of our member sent packages to their loved ones over seas while others bought t-shirts to send on behalf of The Phoenix Singles.

This is an event we will do again.

The Phoenix Singles Goes Country

Well we recently went to Tom Ryan's in Chandler and WOW what a great diverse place to have some fun. The band that night was very good but we knew that going in as we have seen them before. I would like to thank Lynn who did a great job hosting the event. Saw some new members which is always a joy and also some former members. Next time we go back I am going to need a cowboy hat or at least some boots. Like most of our events a majority of the group was on the dance floor most of the night.

Phoenix Singles goes to Red Bar

WOW this was our first visit to Red Bar and it was GREAT. If you have never been to Red Bar and you are looking for a new fun place this is the place to try. It was a little smaller but the decor was awesome. I didn't get a chance to see the pool area but I have heard the place is cool.

Booked my cruise

Well, I pulled the trigger and booked my reservation on the Carnival Splendor Mexican Riviera Cruise. I called Carnival and since they were having some major storms in FL the system kept crashing so it took me some time to get it all done. I decided on an inside cabin in the middle of the ship close to the elevator. After talking to several people I wanted to be in the middle of the ship for a couple reasons. 1) I heard you don't notice the waves as much 2)being in the middle also means no matter where on the ship you are going your 1/2 way there 3) wanted to be close to the elevator (not sure why but sounded like a good idea LOL

This is going to be an awesome trip and I can't wait for Sept. 13th to get here.

Email to Carnival

Well after spending so much time on the phone with so many different people at Carnival Cruise we have written them a email and it was sent off today. Hopefully it will get the right person. Stay tuned for the outcome as further updates will follow.

Concert in the Park

The more I do these events the better I like them. It is no surprise to me that so many awesome people come to the concert in the park events. What a great way to spend a Sunday night, listening to some great music and enjoying the company of some new and old friends. Last night I met a few new members which is always a treat. Also had the chance to talk with some members I have not seen in awhile.

The other fun part is the people watching. Just going and watching everyone is so much fun.

Phoenix Singles Ice Cream Social

How long has it been since you went to an ice cream social? Well, today went and had a great time. It was so awesome to meet some new friends and talk to some friends I have know for awhile now. The weather under the umbrella was great even though it was a little warm out. We talked about dating and relationships. It is great to hear all the opinions out there of what is acceptable and not when you date.

I look forward to going to more of these kinds of events.

Dating and The Phoenix Singles

Had an interesting conversation with a member the other day about dating. So I would like to take this opportunity to explain what we mean when we say we are not a dating site.

We are all singles adults and one of the main reasons people join our group is to meet new people. When we say we are not a dating site we don't want people using the site like a typical dating site where you read a profile and email the person. We prefer people come to the events and actually meet the person and see how they get along. My own personal opinion is that it is so much better to come to 3-4 events and get to meet the person and start building a friendship. Then if you go out with the person and it works out then GREAT but if it doesn't you still have a new friend.

Now if you would like to use a dating site we are going to start reviewing them on this blog. So make sure you come back and check those postings.

Phoenix Singles Does Comedy

Well we all went to Hidden House for a great $6 steak dinner, yes you read that right you get a steak dinner for only $6 and that includes corn and potato. Then after dinner we stayed and saw an awesome comedy show. They had about 7 comics and most were very funny. After the show we talked we a couple of the comics and will be going to do some different comedy events in the upcoming months.

After all laughter is good for the soul.

Why people join The Phoenix Singles

Well, I get asked that questions often. I believe people join our group because we are one of the most if not the most active groups on Meetup in AZ. We do on average 30 events a month. The events we do range from book club to happy hours to cruises. Our events get anywhere from 15 to 150 members attending. Our group is also the most welcoming group on meetup. We welcome everyone as members and strive at making our events a safe fun place to come meet people.

Another reason we are so special is we are not a dating site, members understand we are here to make new friends and not hook up for the night. We believe that if it is meant to be then it will happen in time. We prefer getting to know eachother first and if something happens great.

We started out in Sept. 2006 and have grown to over 2,500 members. So if you are looking to make some new friends and some awesome events please join our family.

Phoenix Singles Cruise Update

Well can you believe this is actually going to happen. This will be our FIRST out of the country adventure. As of today we have 9 cabins booked (only 7 under the group code) and about 20 members going on this 7 day Mexican Cruise. This is going to be an awesome experience. What more could you want than to travel with such a fun and adventurous group of friends. This is going to be a first for me and I am grateful to be going with so many friends.

WOW what a great picnic we had at the park. We actually had more people come than had RSVP'ed for the event. This was such a great event, the weather was AWESOME and OMG there was so much food we could have fed at least another 50 people. We had over 80 people attend the picnic and concert. I have to say Mary did a remarkable job as a greeter and I want to thank her for suggesting the idea.

WOW what a great turnout at Aunt Chilada's for happy hour. It was great meeting so many new members at the event and seeing so many old friends. You have to love Aunt Chilada's as they have great prices and free food buffet on Friday Nights. We had over 100 people come out and many of them stayed and listened to the Chris Parker Project. Heck I was even dragged out on the dance floor a couple times.

Overall it was a great event as the weather was alot cooler than it usually is in June in Phoenix.

Phoenix Singles 3rd Annual July 4th BASH

Well we are happy to announce our 3rd Annual July 4th Bash. This is a party you won't want to miss. Great friends and cool water is a great combo. This years theme will be a Luau which should make it even more FUNNNNNNNN. I am so looking forward to this event.

Phoenix Singles Poetry Slam

Well some of us went to the Poetry Slam in Mesa and WOW was it awesome. Those poets that get up and read what they have written have alot of talent. If you have never been to a poetry slam (which until a couple years ago I had never been too) I would highly recommend it. I will say if bad words or sexual innuendos are an issue for you then you might want to stay away.

Tonight Liz and I were judges (what are they thinking letting us judge). The people putting it on and some of the poets were thrilled when they saw The Phoenix Singles were coming to the event.

The Phoenix Singles Pajama Party

Pajama Party Pictures

The Phoenix Singles made its first return to the Radisson Hotel since the now famed Pimps & Ho party last year. This trips theme was a PJ party and by all accounts it was a huge success. After the DJ got through his “techno” phase, the dancing and carrying on hit full throttle. The craziness continued as the party pic guy snapped shots of attendees on the rollaway bed! Eric and Debbie get honorable mentions for their outfits; Eric in his bright yellow pajamas with smiley faces and Debbie with her curlers and night cream!

The organized party ended around midnight, but the fun continued at the after party in John’s room. When things started getting a little loud, a complaint put the room on full tilt, raising the decibel level even higher! I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and I can’t wait to see you at the next event!
